The White Rabbit a fictional character brought to life by Lewis Caroll in his famous book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. And this very evening, the rabbit came along and ushered us into wonderland…
Set in Dempsey Road, The White Rabbit took pride in converting the old Ebenezer chapel into a magnificent restaurant. Remnants of the chapel could still be seen in the many detailing from the mosaic covered floor and stain glass windows. It was how I would put it, “a dream come true to dine with the Gods.” Excellent choice of furniture accented and created the mood to feast.
Done with the good and now comes the bad. The de
vil may have heard of this divine sanctuary and decided to create chaos in the kitchen. We were seated by 8.45pm and starters arrived only slightly pass 10pm. I had high hopes for the food as Sous Chef was famed to have arrived from Shanghai from the kitchen of Justin Kuek. The items that were ordered came at awkward intervals. At a go, we could be served with 5 starters and after, the next round of starters came about only after 45 mins. Imagine the frustration from the gang.
Not one of the dishes from starter to main came about as satisfactory. I had weird “wanton” like soup.
In summary, there are room for improvements with the service and food. It is after all a restaurant and the food should be of a satisfactory level. A chance must be given to their effort to bring the lifestyle scene in Singapore to another high. Hopefully, our comments have been seriously taken into account and looking forward to more visits to this gorgeous place.
